local lodge 478 News  Rail Negotiations Resume1/29/2003As you may know, an Arbitration Award has been rendered covering the wages, and the health and welfare issues between the Transportation Communications International Union (TCU) and the National Carriers' Conference Committee (NCCC) in their round of negotiations. Without going into all the details, the Award provides for four (4) General Wage Increases, totaling 12.25%, with health and welfare cost-sharing commencing July 1, 2001, during the term. While your negotiating committee is disappointed by the Arbitrator's Award, the Machinists and the Sheetmetal Workers will resume negotiations in our attempt to obtain a fair and equitable Agreement which all of you are entitled to. Mediation sessions are scheduled for February 26 and 27, 2003, between all the parties including the National Mediation Board. Your solidarity and support during these times are greatly appreciated.
